Martin recently addressed the situation as well as the “ferocity” of some fans who expressed their impatience in comments on social media, his blog, and more.
While appearing on the Coupledom podcast (via jimzradar), Martin explained that he knows Winter winds Late, but while there are plenty of kind and understanding fans out there, there are many who just stick with their comments.
“I got [that] Winter windsMartin, the sixth book, said late. “I can get a hundred good comments, but there are still a few fans out there who will mention it to me on my blog or something else. I say, “Happy Thanksgiving!” and they say, “Don’t worry about Thanksgiving, where’s the book?!”
Martin went on to say that he appreciates his fans but also believes that social media has made it easy for some people to become more mean and rude.
“I love the fans, although I think Twitter, the Internet, and social media caused a ferocity I didn’t see in the old days,” he said. “Love and hate are very close, especially with comic books or any well-established franchises.”
While fans have been waiting for a while Winter windsMartin has been keeping fans updated on progress, to bring the book closer and closer to completion. Earlier this month, the author revealed that the book may end up being the longest part of the series to date.
